This is the ULITIMATE test of mountain prowess and festival savvy. The best Festival in the Empire needs a King and Queen - so for all those King and Queen wannabes we have a comp for you. The King and Queen of Coldsmoke will be rightfully showered with schwag, après ski accolades and a day heli skiing with Stellar Heliskiing. Make no mistake - this is the best little big-skiing contest around…

"Whitewater royalty for a year, amazing prizes up to your eyeballs, a gorgeous hand crafted trophy... Who wouldn’t want such a prestigeous package! All it takes is participation in 4 events throughout the Coldsmoke weekend. Each event has its own unique twist and is guaranteed to get your heart pumping. Seem intimidating? Maybe at first, but your nerves quickly disappear as your fellow competitors are encouraging, friendly, and willing to lend a helping hand. And at the end of the day, whether your first or last, just crossing the finish line is an undeniable accomplishment." - Ali Schroeder, Queen of Coldsmoke 2015

“Are you doing the King-of-the-Coldsmoke again this year?” It is a question that I get asked frequently, especially as the late February date approaches. It can happen anywhere; in the grocery store lineup, at Oso, certainly in the Summit lineup on a powder day. Coldsmoke is never easy. The event is an eclectic mix of alpine skills crossing ski mountaineering, with slopestyle; racing…vitally important, then throw in a little backcountry skills and… cross dressing? Chasing Andrew McNab or Ben Parsons in Skimo is truly a form of anaerobic torture. Trying to match Gabe English throwing down huge cork 720’s or Mitch Ryan’s laid out back flips…terrifying. Will I ever beat Kirk Jensen in a race course? Forget trying to match Martin Ouellette and James Nichol in the Poker Run.

“Will I be doing the King of the Coldsmoke again this year?” Easy answer: I wouldn’t miss it. I’ll be dressed up with a quiver of skis trying to deliver a consistent performance across a truly outrageous mix of alpine ski disciplines." - Scott Jeffery, King of Coldsmoke 2015 (& reigning champion).
