Backcountry Basics

Categories: Saturday Backcountry Clinics

Clinic Type: Backcountry

Ability: Beginner/Intermediate

Capacity: 8

Availability: Contact the Whitewater office at (250) 354-4944 for availability and ordering.

Touring gear required: climbing skins, beacon, shovel & probe, pack, nutrition, hydration, appropriate layers. Please come to the tour on-time with gear.

This tour is suitable for people who have done some hiking in the backcountry but would like to have an actual class that covers the basics of touring including gear orientation, avalanche awareness basics and a mellow hike and powder ski. This is an incredibly informative and rewarding experience with an ACMG ski guide. If you are a solid intermediate skier, you have the ability to participate in this clinic. If you reserve in advance, participants in this clinic will receive a huge savings on gear rental (they are asking for a minimum donation of $25 to the SPCA when you pick up) Thanks to our festival partner ROAM shop in Nelson! Please contact ROAM, let them know you are in an Intro to Backcountry clinic and send them your gear request. While supplies last!
